A Journey to Peace
Bringing together American Veterans
and Civilians from Iraq and Afghanistan
for Understanding, Transformation, and Reconciliation.
Josh Stieber is a veteran of the army unit that gained international notoriety when a Wikileaks video, "Collateral Murder", showed their helicopter gun ship killing Iraqi civilians and 2 Reuters journalists. Stieber does not excuse the behavior, but advises listeners to consider the social and military training that leads to such actions.
Conor Curran, also an Iraq veteran, will share his transformation as a marine in Fallujah to a man of peace.
Salam Hassan grew up in Iraq and experienced life under Saddam Hussein as well as the US occupation. As a journalist and documenter he provides a rarely-heard perspective of an insider to this war-torn country.
Journey to Smile: Afghanis speak via Skype: A group of inspiring young Afghanis will share their firsthand accounts of war while maintaining a shining hope for humanity despite decades of turmoil.
